Compact and Robust STA® Push Tubular Solenoids Deliver 25+ Million Cycles in High Force, Short Stroke Applications

Posted on Tuesday, December 13th, 2011

Johnson Electric introduces a new member to its family of Ledex® STA® push tubular solenoids . Size 155 STA push tubular solenoids deliver strokes up to 0.8 in., holding force up to 8.20 lbs. (36.52 N) at 20°C with dielectric strength of 1000 VRMS, in a cost effective and compact 1.52 in. x 1.68 in. package. This industry leading size-to-force output, combined with the ability to deliver 25+ million cycles, makes them an ideal solution for 12 or 24 VDC on/off operation in high force, short stroke applications that require long term reliability.

All STA push tubular solenoids feature an integrated air-gap spacer to eliminate external components. A clevis and slot hole on the plunger facilitates ease of mounting and attachment of the interface to the plunger. Coils are rated for reliable operation up to 130°C.

All STA series tubular solenoids are also available in pull models and available in a variety of voltages to satisfy specific application requirements.

152097-223 Pull type, maximum stroke .80", force up to 16 lbs., 7-23 vdc
152097-225 Pull type, maximum stroke .80", force up to 16 lbs., 11-36 vdc
152097-226 Pull type, maximum stroke .80", force up to 16 lbs., 12-44 vdc
152097-229 Pull type, maximum stroke .80", force up to 16 lbs., 24-89 vdc

Dual-Row Devices Provide Optimal Connection Integrity in An Array of High-Density Board-to-Board Applications.

San Marcos, CA, August 31, 2011...Announced today by Sullins Connector Solutions, a global leader in designing and manufacturing RoHS-compliant board-level interconnects, is the addition of the dual-row 1.00 mm (0.039") centerline SBH51 Series Fully Shrouded Male Box Headers and corresponding SFM210 Series Fully Shrouded Female Header Mates. Parts are the newest members of the expanding SBH and SFM Series of fully shrouded devices, and are engineered to minimize the risk of mismating in high-density board-to-board applications where superior signal performance is required. Provided in plated through hole (PTH), and with/without guideposts in surface mount (SMT) terminations, parts facilitate design flexibility and manufacturing efficiencies while helping customers reduce vendor count. The UL94V-0 connectors feature an extended temperature range of -40 degrees C to +125 degrees C, and are compatible with reflow processes up to 260 degrees C peak.

An ideal interconnect solution for a wide range of high-density consumer, commercial and industrial applications where a PCB needs to be connected to another board, the 1.00 mm pitch series are frequently specified for use on PCBs in household appliances, testing, computer, process control, security systems and telecommunications equipment. They are particularly appropriate for connecting boards in HVAC equipment, gasoline pumps, and vending machines.

These dual-row connectors are offered in 3 through 50 (6 to 100 pins) positions and have a current rating of 1 A per contact. Sullins' SBH51 Series of headers may be ordered with either 10 microinch gold overall or gold flash overall plating; SFM210 Series of female mates are supplied with overall 10 microinch gold plating. Both series are provided with phosphor bronze contacts. Insulator material is black liquid crystal polymer (LCP), and insulation resistance is 1000 mega-ohms.  Please contact us for more information.

Double-Row, Dual Card Edge Slots, High-Temperature Connectors Facilitate
Board-to-Board Connections without Soldering

San Marcos, CA, November 1, 2010 -

Sullins Connector Solutions, a global leader in the design and manufacturing of RoHS-compliant board level interconnect products, expanded their comprehensive offering of high-temperature devices to include a full series of double-row, Dual Edge Connectors. The new series is specifically engineered to facilitate board-to-board extensions, and to serve as board savers in board stacking and board extension applications without desoldering. The standard dual-row, 0.100" (2.54 mm) pitch connectors accept a 0.062" (1.57 mm) thick PC board in both slots and are offered with from 5 to 60 contacts per row.  Optionally available are 0.125" (3.18 mm) and 0.156" (3.96 mm) contact center version with 5 to 40 pins per row.    Developed to deliver unsurpassed signal integrity, parts ensure PCBs are aligned at the centerline to enable a uniform signal path across the length of the connector.   These robust and reliable devices tested well with HTOL (High Temperature Operating Life), HAST (Highly Accelerated Stress Test), and LTOL (Low Temperature Operating Life).  They are supplied in straddle mount terminations, with flush mounting holes, or no mounting, to ensure optimal design flexibility. Dual Edge Connectors that support an operating temperature range of -65 degrees C to +150 degrees C are provided.

Commonly employed in high-density, high-temperature, high-cycle life applications in which two 0.062" PCBs need be connected, Sullins' new Dual Edge Connectors are the ideal interface for R&D and life test applications. Devices may be confidently specified in an array of industrial, consumer, and commercial systems and products, and are most commonly used in test and burn-in oven facilities, electronic component testing, data storage servers, communications and networking equipment, medical devices and LED applications.

Sullins' Dual Edge Connectors feature a current rating of 3 Amps per contact and a contact resistance of 30 Milliohms maximum.  Their phosphor bronze contacts are provided standard with 30 microinch selective gold plating over 50 microinch nickel underplate. Parts can support an operating temperature of -65 degrees C to +125 degrees C or +150 degrees C, depending on the material configurations. While the +125 degree C parts can withstand reflow processes up to 260 degrees C peak for 10 seconds, higher temperature parts can withstand as long as 120 seconds at 260 degrees C.  Housing materials are UL94-0 rated and insulation resistance is 5,000 Megohm minimum.  Devices further boast low insertion/withdrawal forces and a voltage rating of 750 VAC minimum.
